CALGARY

Calgary is the largest city of province Alberta with population of 1,096,833 (Calgary metropolitan area 1,214,839). Economic activity in Calgary is mostly centred on the petroleum industry and agriculture. Because the energy sector was employing so many people from the city, the fallout from the economic slump of the early 1980s was understandably significant and it lead quickly to increasing of unemployment. In 1988, Calgary became the first Canadian city to host the Olympic Winter Games.

Calgary experiences a dry humid continental climate with long, cold, dry, but highly variable winters and short, moderately warm summers. The climate is greatly influenced by the city's elevation and proximity to the Rocky Mountains. Calgary is located at the transition zone between the Canadian Rockies foothills and the Canadian Prairies. City is your often point of access for Banff and Jasper, and the center of the largest metropolitan area between Toronto and Vancouver.

Transport from Calgary International Airport

- public transport: take bus - Route 300 Airport / City Centre - limited-stop service to downtown via centre street. Customers boarding at the airport must pay with either a ‘Calgary Transit Boarding Pass’ (available for $8.00 at Mac’s stores in the airport terminal) or a monthly pass. Regular fares apply at all other locations along the route. Operates every 30 minutes between 5:00 a.m. and midnight on daily basis.

- shuttle service: departures are every 30 minutes. Visit the Allied Shuttle counter on arrivals level near gate "C" between 8 am and midnight 7. Operates daily. One way adult ticket is $ 15.
